Time to cut off the money?

[link to this post]

Raised support ticket on Thursday concerning connection drops, something that has been happening quite a lot, and is now at the stage where the service is unusable and I am on dial up. Called support today, the chap I spoke to was as all +net staff, polite courteous and understanding, but could give no time scale as to when someone would look at the fault. That imho is not satisfactory.

My question now is, should I modify the money supply to zero to match my BB experience.

First thing to be aware of is that should you get a visit from an Openreach engineer, and fault prove to be with your equipment, that you'll get charged over £150.

I had an adsl fault recently and first thing engineer did was to run tests using his laptop - after 3 visits it was a line card fault at exchange. Openreach adsl engineers are only allowed 2 hours on a call out - hence 3 visits.

Assuming you have an NTE5 master socket run tests using hidden socket and try to borrow someone else's equipment to make certain that you're in the clear.

Points taken, but if the router stays synced would the problem lay elsewhere?

If router is staying synced I'd be checking my equipment - obviously I don't know the overall symptoms so could you possibly post your router stats so that others can also comment.

sync 3136
Attenuation 55.5
SNRM 12.0

Basically, its not logging into +net, or when it does, not for very long.

You're appear to be a long way from exchange but you say that router is staying synced - how many days at a time?

Correct, I am some distance. The router stays in sync for days.

Hi there,

Do you have a ticket number I can have a look at? Have you been given, and tried, the test logins to use for authentication faults?

Hi Mand

ID: 30368509

I've now managed to get the dial up working for when I loose service.

Today, so far seems so much better, but this seems to be a feature, a couple of good days followed by terrible service. Every time, the router stays in sync, but no data flow and the 'Internet' light goes out.

I did complete the fault checker as per the Help and Support section and have been waiting for some feedback. I haven't had any test logins to use for authentication faults.

Many thanks

John
