Moving to Plusnet?

[link to this post]

Hi all
I'm finally getting away from Skys awful Connect service with it's huge packet loss and high pings and am thinking of moving to Plusnets Value service to start with.
I know about the throttling at peak times but am not too worried about it as my line only supports 2MB anyway and I dont do a lot of downloading, but my son does quite a lot of PS3 and Wii online gaming (strangely enough he's not really had much of a problem with it on Sky)
I may move up to the Pro package eventually, but was wondering whether the throttling had much effect on pings and packet loss on the Value package, as the cost saving would come in handy.
Thanks

The Value package isn't recommended for gaming - for that you want the pro or premium packages http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/do...
Note the different traffic priority on the products http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/tr...

Throttling in theroy doesn't effect pings.. Packets loss depending on the platform used can occur, but this doesn't happen on the http or email side of the internet (with plus net).

As Jim mentions, gaming on Value is not prioritised as highly as it is on some of our other products however it will work when there are no Gold drops on the network.

You could always give it a go and then upgrade at a later date if needs be.
