Line speed

[link to this post]

Hello

From what i have been reading I think that if you mess about with your modem like i have been doing and you get a low sync than your likely to gret put on the lower ipProfile say 750 :- Yes/No?

This in turrn cuts down you ability to download any faster than your ipProfile speed :- Yes/No?

So this low ipProfile happens becase of a low sync connection sometime within the last fewdays And that you will have to wait for around 3 days for he ipProfile to get back up And in order to do this you need the modem to sync constantly high :- Yes/No.
.
What happens if the modem drops out/ resets during this period but on restarting it resyncs at the same high rate will you sill get your ipProfile back up please???

After a higher resync your IP profile can take as many as 5 days to increase, maybe longer for some unstable connections.
If the increase in sync is a large enough change then the IP profile should increase in a far shorter period of time.

I forced a router re-sync at 11.30am the other day and the sync speed increased by about 100%, the following day when I checked at 8.30am the IP profile had changed back up to a far higher profile.

Here is some more reading for you smile

Hello
Thanks for replying the chang in router sync is from 1500 and now at 4400 so nearly 3 times.. I take it by saying forced resync that you mean switching off the modem leving for about 5 mins then switching back on?????

One oher thing though is now the line has resynced there seams to be a more errors being reported??? Thanks

You're more likely to see greater numbers of errors being report at higher sync speeds if you are further from the exchange. This is due to the quality and distance of the line.

What are you line stats??

The uncorrected errors aren't bad - I wouldn't be bothered about the corrected errors (FEC)
If the error rate gets too high then the default margin will automatically increase to 9dB which will sort it
