Still sync'ed but no "connection" ???

[link to this post]

Hi All

Has anyone else seen this earlier today ~ oh for the record I am now using my backup 3G wireless ~ the Routerstats show this happened at 04:55hours I spoke to CSC and as I have an outstanding ticket (nothing to do with such a complete loss of connection & they were due to get BT make a change to the SNR) he refered it to "faults" as he could not explain why this had occurred???

TIA

I can't see anything odd from our side (unless you count the disconnection itself) - you show as going offline at 04:52 and there's no connection showing since.

I assume you've tried rebooting the router? I'm not sure why it's not reconnected automatically but do wonder what errors were reported as if it has been rebooted we haven't seen a successful connection since.

As for the disconnection itself, I'd guess that this was down to work being done in the exchange as we've not had any notice of any planned works that I've seen.

Hi Matt

Thanks for looking smile

As mentioned in my PM I have not rebooted because I did not wish to affect the DLM et al. I did use the forced "reconnect" button in the Router GUI but this had no effect. So if there is nothing about the connection that is odd from your end all I can do is a reboot.

Will do that shortly unless advised otherwise???

For the record the Router status says ~ "Negotiation ~ LCP is allowed to come up"

TIA

Hi Matt

Right, I have rebooted the router and interestingly I now get a slightly higher sync - it was 2304 and is now 2496

But it will still not "Authenticate" for the record I have ensured my Password is correct in the Router GUI.

Hmmmmm! what next please ??? And is this event in any way related to the ticket last entry mby PlusNet that you were getting BT to take an action???

I do not recall ever having this situation so a rapid solution would be great smile

TIA

Keep trying! I often find that, for some reason, I can't re-authenticate for the first few tries following a disconnect. Perseverance pays off. wink

I must say, it's unusual for it to last an hour or more, though. I normally just keep hitting "connect" until it eventually decides it recognises me.

Had something similar a year or so ago. Just could not re-authenticate, even though had sync.
Powered router down for couple hours and then it reconnected immediately on boot up!
So maybe worth a try?

Yep, that's worked for me too, I think it was during the time I was using the TG585v7

Thanks guys for the input smile

I will another couple of go's via the Router GUI "connect" button but otherwise will power down for a couple of hours in case it is what used to be called a "Stale Session" though have never 'seen' one myself ~ normally a simple reboot of the Router just makes the new connection AOK.

If at all possible do it sometime between 9:30am and 2:30pm, you should then get a better sync rate/speed than if it is done in the evening or later on still.
