Banded profile due to ES and SES

Since joining PN on the 21CN (moved over from tiscali LLU) I have had one day of normal sync which was just over 12mbps and since have had a banded profile applied to my line.

I must admit that it has stabilized my line and have just had 120hours uptime at 6656kbps but still with ES and SES, there is obviously some noise on the line somewhere. The line didn't drop at 12mbps, I just had more errors.

PN technical initially raised a fault for me but then the faults team came back and told me that there is no fault on the line and that the band should be left in place so that my line is stable.

I've asked for it to be removed in hope that I might be able to sustain a connection at an un-banded speed but have been warned that they can only remove it one, if it is reapplied, it's applied forever it seems.

Being told to leave the band in place, if you ask me, is an unacceptable resolution - that's like having a spare wheel on your car is it not? It'll do the job, but you didn't buy the car to have it restricted to 50mph, ha!

Basically, does anyone have any opinion, direction or knowledge that I could leach to improve my situation?
I've asked on the PN forums and had no help from any of their staff, just forum members, and obviously the faults department are unwilling too take it up with BTW.

I don't have any extensions in my house and my router is plugged into the test socket, here's a copy and paste of some stat's from my DG834GT with the latest DGTeam firmware..

If you're plugged into the test socket, aren't using extension cabling, have swapped the filter and have nothing else plugged into the line (including any other extensions sockets you have around the house) then you've pretty much done all you can to eliminate problems at your side.

If we haven't done so already then it might be worth us removing the banding to see what happens.

If it is reapplied though then you might have to accept that the line's not going to perform above the speed limitation of the banding

There's an illogicality in what he was told, and you repeat it.

If banding is in place and can only be removed once, so that if it has to be re-applied it then becomes permanent, under what circumstances does it not make sense to remove it? Are BT Wholesale saying that if it is permanently applied and Openreach later replace the whole line with new cabling then tough - the banding has to remain?

If it is not removed, then it is de facto permanent anyway.

As a matter of interest have you tried switching the router setting to connect on ADSL2 instead of ADSL2+ and compared the stats and speeds?
