yeah It produced same rate into the test socket, at the moment I have it plugged directly into main socket along with the house phone so no extensions in with it, I thought about the high noise readings - can these be brought down to increase the speeds ?

Do you mean it produced the same speed test rate, or the same statistics? And the test socket inside the master not the normal socket? (Sorry to query that but some people do think they are using the test socket when they are not).
In particular if you are using the normal external socket then extensions can have an effect, even though nothing is connected to them.
Always connect well after dawn and well before dusk. That can make a difference of several hundred kbps, and remember that download speed can take up to 5 days to improve given a higher connection speed. The stats immediately after a re-connection would be useful as the noise margin changes later.
