Why would you need to regularly deal with an ISP if they were well run?

Had a problem with line noise, took 3 visits by BT engineers, last one changed the DSLAM
(they were is short supply).
Added a phone rental / service.
Had to upgrade (2 teenagers won't go to 2GB).
Now have to re-negotiate price every six months to match BT offers.
All my problems were dealt with well, apart from some 'off subject' email replies.

Martin

.....check out the Post Office Unlimited Broadband Extra and Home Phone, much cheaper than PN and a lot more included.

NOT SO.
PO extra is 26.05 p.m., but they don't include, or even do Anytime calls.
PlusNet costs me £25 p.m WITH Anytime calls, which, working from home, I need more then unlimited downloads. (That's matching BT 'summer' offer wink
I can manage on 10GB p.m. with overnight downloads.
And in fact I pay quite bit less, as I have some referrals.

Martin

Yes, but some like to actually use their broadband, along with free calls to mobiles, no charge for caller display or for not paying by direct debit. You must do a real lot of 'Work' to get by on 10Gb. With all the takeovers, it will end with just BT or LLU.

As a long term (5+years) customer of PlusNet I have to deal with them on regular basis.
So far I deemed it being well run by intelligent people, now I am not sure !
Surely they must know Big Bro is the most IDIOTIC program on UK's TV !
Why would they want to be associated with that (censored) ?

Quite frankly I would change ISP's,
but as a moderate user on Market 1 exchange I have no sensible alternative frown
Regards,
M

i am sure talk talk and the CPW dumped it because it made them look like the program - cheap and nasty! frown

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, and could understand it putting you off joining, migrating away purely because of it seems a little disproportionate?

maybe. but when theres a better service on offer it's a no brainer. the CBB bit just shows me that they only seem to care for new customers - screw the current/old ones.

Free calls to mobiles WOULD be good, but just at weekends makes very little difference,
as we would still need our mobiles rest of the week, and when out and about !

Obviously you have no idea of what 'work' is. We don't watch utube all day !
Wife and I receive and return 10 to 50 pages of document by email every working day,
but that 'barely scratches the surface' of the usage.
Research on the internet uses lot more, but even that was fine when we had 2GB.
It's the two teenagers who use most of the 10 GB !

I'm not sure that "junk tv" equates to "junk isp", but I understand why people would feel this way.

As an existing customer, I would prefer PN to spend its money on improving service, reducing tariffs, increasing download speeds, before shelling out on advertising and sponsorships.

That would be no good to many of us in this digital age. I am fed up with sitting up all night to download with Plusnet. 90Gb overnight this last week, with about 8gb daytime till the allowance fills up!
Sky totally unlimited BB at £5 per month for non-Sky customers is looking very tempting.
