the service is awful, massive customer base, lack of capacity.
I was offered a priority service, but it really is poor, frequent disconnects all the time, im going back to entanet, farewell and never again Plusnet, never ever again.

disconnects suggest a line fault rather than a lack of capacity.....

If the disconnect is loss of sync then that is between you and the exchange i.e. BT and nothing to do with plusnet. You need to investigate a line fault. Plenty of help with this on the plusnet website help area.

depends, 'disconnects' could mean loss of PPP session but not sync loss - that would likely be an ISP issue.
|
|
|
That depends on what the PPP disconnects are caused by.

Hi there,
Sorry about the problems you've had, I'm happy to get one of my team to pick any fault up and keep you updated all the way through it's fix process.
Just to note we certainly don't have a lack of capacity, we added more than ever a few weeks ago and we're nowhere near touching the limit of that.

Then why do plusnet throttle just about every protocol at peak times?

We perform traffic management for performance reasons, so realtime protocols always take priority. Plus as I've said in another thread the traffic management is much more relaxed than the website currently shows.

Hello Chris,
I use to be on 20CN on Plusnet aswell like Remidizer until my exchange was upgraded to 21CN. During peak times on the old 20CN network, the bandwidth does heavily drop through the floor and the ping times sky rocket and you lose connection during gaming.
On 21CN, there is no bandwidth or ping time issues that I've noticed. Plusnet cant help Remidizer until BT decide to upgrade his exchange (Inverness Culloden).

Or the OP can ditch BTw ISP altogether and go with adsl2+ llu provider such as cable & wireless or talktalk - both are available at Culloden exhange. Can keep his bt line if he signs up via xilo or vivaciti

An update for you all, I used to live in Culloden, but now Inverness so my bad, i am on 21WCN.
I left Plusnet, I know it was PPP disconnects, they kept telling me to raise a fault, I know there is no fault.
Went with vivaciti and my connection started 1 day and 13 hours ago, there has not been one single disconnect, no lagged out games, ping tomes are about 15ms lower, tracert to the game servers I use now are 2 hops less.
As for having plenty bandwidth on plusnet...no there is not. My connection speed is exactly the same, 17746kbps, download speeds on Plusnet was about 11MB, on vivaciti it is 15.4MB, instead of having annex A it is also now Annex M.
On pingtest I have a grade A line now.
I will never use a huge ISP again, ever, they just cannot perform as well, I guess they are cheaper for a reason!

You need to tell us the vivaciti package. It could be using C & W or TalkTalk LLU equipment at the exchange.

Sorry to hear that you've left, it's a shame we didn't get to the bottom of the issue but good luck with your new ISP.
