Re: Loss of FTTC & phone

Not me. the fault was traced to s copper break some 33 metres from the house.

Data Rate: 19000 / 60000
7. Maximum Data Rate: 26626 / 67304
8. Noise Margin: 11.3 / 7.3
9. Line Attenuation: 17.6 / 15.3
10. Signal Attenuation: 0.0 / 0.0

The line was also routed wrong in the Cabinet. I am told and the speeds should ramp up during the day, which after 25+ resets an hour since Saturday morning is to be expected. I'll leave the connection on so it can sort itself out, before rebooting - will probably end up with a stuck profile next!

So you never got your clapped out pre-historic drop-wire replaced then?

I'm sorry it's a bit off-topic, but I cannot get that troubleshooter to work - it always bombs out.

Hence I never get any further with faultfinding/reporting the problem.

If the troubleshooter won't even work, is that in itself indicative of a fault?

The same happens if I ask PN via online chat to initiate a line test from their end. The line test makes the connection drop, so I never get a result - and the chat session with PN is lost too - so again, I get no further. (CS agents do not seem to log the abortive contact/test attempt as an unresolved customer problem)

It might be worth asking in Plusnet's forums - Link

8am this morning a knock on the door - its Openreach!

Faults still on my line -
Between the Master socket and the front door., a return loop caused by frayed wires touching. Meant I have a new cable installed from my lounge to the pole!
The engineer also found another loop in the cabinet, on the (fire?) card in the cabinet, which he said he would repair or get replaced.

Speed has already increased from 40 to 51 mbs and I should be flying once the new network has settled down (will monitor).

And all this from 8am on a Sunday Morning, smile

Not that common, but not unheard of, they do work weekends when there's a lot of jobs/shortage of engineers.

If you are trying to read hand written notes, that's probably "line" card.

So things are looking promising.
