PlusNet FTTC Outages

[link to this post]

Recently my Brother's connection has been dropping out for hours on end. He has been with them for 3 years since the beginning of covid with no issues, my Dad's connection has been with them for 20 years since the days if dialup so used to the network now and its been solid but recently the connection drops then returns.

Today's drop was just before 6am and it returned about 0930. Anyone else experiencing any issues with them?

It is quite possibly a fault developing with the physical line. Can your brother get the stats from the router interface (speed, SNR, Attenuation at a minimum). Also, can he access the logs from the router for the time it was down as those might show why it went down. If it is line issues then he would need to log a call with PlusNet to get the line looked at.

It's dropped again today, logging into the PlusNet Hub1 doesn't show any stats as line is not connected basically.Going to raise it again with them.

So likely a local issue in the openreach network, not specific to your provider.

No idea, no one has said anything, most will be on BT lines as VM don't run into the street as its a private road as such.

The BT pole is less than 10m from the front door too, might check the cabinet out as that is some distance off.

No line stats and no connection suggests there is no connection to the openreach DSLAM cabinet outside, so likely a fault on your line only

It's what I am thinking, I found the cabinet last night up the road doesn't appear to be any damage to it so got to be line related. On the list to call in again today as its still down.

I arranged an engineer visit last Monday, he put it down to a faulty faceplate and the fact I was using a plug in filter which had been swapped.

Touch wood its been ok since, I wasn't there when engneer visited but have been monitoring and so far so good, so god knows what was up with it.
