Security protocol to pick...

[link to this post]

Hi

My Netgear router (3y old) has the following protocols:
WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
WPA2-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key)
WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK
WPA-802.1x
WPA2-802.1x

My Laptop is a T60p from lenovo (3y old).

Which encryption protocol should I pick? Is there a 'speed' difference with any of these? as well as any specific vulnerabilities?

I gather that WEP is not recommended but I have 2 WPA2 options here and no idea which one to pick...

I also wanted to add that the reception is pretty bad between my router and my laptop (although only 2 rooms apart...). So a robust protocol that would not require new handshakes all the time would be better...

Thanks

Benoit

I'd go for WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK. Either are good enough but that setting will allow the router to use WPA2 with those devices that support it.
