McAfee Agent V4

[link to this post]

This programme is installed on a laptop lent to my neighbour's daughter by her school for the summer holidays. I think it's a corporate version of the McAfee Security Center - is that correct? In other words, virus protection, firewall etc. I've googled and been on the maker's website, but I can't find a description of what it actually does! Do these corporate programmes still update automatically from the internet or do they need the school's server to do that? I see that the administrator has disabled the Windows firewall.

They are usually managed from a management server, which may or may not be at the school or some other part of the LEA's & County Councils' network.
Unless it's causing a problem, leave it alone otherwise you may even stop it working especially if you don't have administrator credentials to make such changes.
Is it causing a problem?

No problems - I just get twitchy about security. After a while I see that the defs have been updated so it must pick them up from any internet connection.
