Kaspersky IS 2010 - PDM.keylogger issue ?

[link to this post]

Since last week my kaspersky internet security 2010 is reporting a potential keylogger. It says:
"Detected: PDM.keylogger" - "kernl mode memory patch", but doesn't tie it to a program or application. So just wondering if anyone else has seen this or knows whether this is a false positive, or something to worry about ?

I've tried searching the kaspersky home users forums, and there are a few posts about this, but latest I can find says that it's a known issue that is being worked on, and i can ignore .. but I can't find anything 'official' about it, so not sure if I can trust this ???

Any ideas ?

Thanks

I haven't that that message,wish I could help.

Basically the Kernel gets patched by KIS/KAV to allow for proper monitoring and API function interception. When two similar programs place a hook in one place, similar conflicts are possible. Have you got any other security software loaded.

Don't think so - and also haven't installed anything new recently, so all very odd crazy

Nope - just use the machine for general surfing/e-mail really. I've read that some games get identified for this type of issue (as I guess they need to interpret key presses in order to play the game ?), but I don't do any games. It also seems to detect it at startup, before i've had a chance to run anything myself !

I asked about BF2 because that was one of the most common "causes". wink
The full story is here and I suspect that you have nothing whatsoever to worry about.

Do you have a Microsoft or Logitech keyboard that has "programmable" keys/buttons? This has been known to trigger a false-positive as a/v thinks the keyboard software is actually a keylogger trying to access/intercept the keyboard.

I wouldn't worry to much about it - you could use A Squared free and see if that finds it.
