I couldn't understand why I was unable to access my XP machine running AVG when I tried to access folders from my laptop in another room. I spent hours trying to fathom this out and in desperation I removed AVG from the PC ... it worked, I could now access the PC from my laptop. Problem is, I need the antivirus protection but I also need to access my PC remotely. Have any of you had this problem and if so how did you overcome it? What makes this even more frustrating is that AVG has been installed on our other computers and we can access the folders on each of these without difficulty.
I had the same problem with Kaspersky. I'm not sure how AVG works but you will need to enter your firewall settings and make your home network a trusted application.
I believe this is included by default when AVG is installed ... it is certainly included in the list of exceptions. What I can't understand is that the other computers in the house are all accessible and I have no problem with them.
