iTunes Gifts Certificate

Got an email from iTunes.com. Fine.

The header said that I had been given a $50 certificate. Er, ok..

The email itself said I had purchased a $50 certificate. Yeah, right.

All I had to do was open the attachment. I don't think so! lol.

I called Apple just to make sure that someone hadn't made an error somewhere. It was from iTunes.com, but it seemed very dubious. Born last week I wasn't. Thankfully.

It was a trojan apparently, not to be opened (the attachment) - that was crepe, but thankfully deleted in time.

Has anyone else seen / heard of this before?

You know, being on a Mac means that these email nasties 99.99% of the time are unlikely to work

I wasn't using the MacBook, was on the PC at the time. Still wouldn't open <any> unknown attachment, Mac or not.

I had a similar mail purporting to be from UPS earlier. The same old thing.... Delivery address wrong so fill in the attached form etc. Again, Mailwasher allows you to see straight through this without even downloading the mail. In this case it was the heavily populated BCC list that caught the attention immediately.

UPS are rubbish, they've had my address wrong at least 2 or 3 times.

Sorry, it was the scammers that I was referring to. Never used UPs.

Yes I got that one as well but Kaspersky zapped it as it was downloaded to my inbox. Not that I'd have opened it anyhoo....
