Trying to get a WAP and PCs talking but brain does not want to function this afternoon.

On the WAP I have a choice of encryption:

The WAPs have a choice of:

WEP-Open
WEP-Shared
WPA-PSK
WPA-PSK & WPA-2PSK
WPA-2PSK

Then when I look at the PCs there are several alternative choice using either Personal Security or Enterprise Security.

Under Personal there is a choice of:
WEP - 128bit
WPA – Personal (TKIP)
WPA – Personal (AES-CCMP)
WPA2 – Personal (TKIP)
WPA2 – Personal (AES-CCMP)

Under Enterprise several options.

Aurthentication: Encryption
Open WEP
Open CKIP
Shared WEP
Shared CKIP
WPA-Enterprise TKIP
WPA-Enterprise AES-CCMP
WPA2-Enterprise TKIP
WPA2-Enterprise AES-CCMP
WPA-Personal TKIP
WPA- Personal AES-CCMP
WPA2- Personal TKIP
WPA2- Personal AES-CCMP


I can get them working using WEP but that is not acceptable. Any ideas which WAP selection corresponds to a PC selection? WPA2 would be preferred! I have tried and failed with various combinations. The key is fine and I guarantee that am using the same on both ends and I have wired access to the WAP.

I reckon you want WPA2-PSK on the WAP and WPA2-Personal TKIP on the PC.

My initial thoughts! But cannot get it to work. If I look at te WAP from te PC it tells me it is receiving WEP Open/Shared which is definitely wrong!


Off to a meeting now so will try again later tonight or tomorrow.

WPA2-PSK on the WAP and WPA2-Personal (AES-CCMP) on the PC, I believe.

I think it may have solved it ...
