Old McAfee 2011

I bought an old McAfee 2011 total protection disc at a car boot yesterday for £1. It is still unopened & unregistered. I currently have McAfee 2012 total protection installed but it is due to run out in 4 days. If I install the 2011 version and register it, will this give me virus protection for a further year, or will it be recognised as old software and be invalid? I thought it was worth taking a risk buying it for a quid.

Bin it & install a freeware solution. McAfee is trash.

If it is anything like Norton, don't install the 2011 version but feed its licence/product key into the already installed 2012 version, probably under something like 'Renew/Activate'.

Worth a try; nowt to lose and whole year to gain (providing it is truly unused).
