I've long used the Superantispyware online scanner approximately every 4-6 weeks to remove tracking cookies.
Today, I tried using it and it loaded, got to the security check part and I got a pop-up telling me Paint cannot read this file as it's not a valid Bitmap file, or it's format is not currently supported.
I've never had a problem with it before, and it was fine a few weeks ago.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

I use the version of SAS that is on my PC rather than the online scanner. I've just updated the application and the virus database and run it. No problems, it found and removed tracking cookies.
Haven't tried the on-line one - don't think I knew there was one.
Just tried it. Downloaded and ran just fine. It looked to be just the same as the one I already have on my PC.

I tried runniing it online in Chrome instead of IE, but that gave just the same error message.
So, I tried downloading it, and it worked!
How odd that it won't work online, but does on the downloaded version.
It installed on the C drive, and if given an option, I'd have put in on another drive.
At least I got rid of a heap of tracking cookies!

It didn't actually run online, it downloaded an executable file and ran that. So the program file being run was on my PC rather than running from a web server. Though it didn't have to be installed, and thus no need to uninstall.

I did that the second time I tried the online scanner, but it still gave me the same error message.
I'm never quite sure if the Adobe Reader versions are safer now, so haven't updated that for long while ..perhaps that's the problem with it not reading the online version of SAS on my computer.
Still, if that were the case, wouldn't the downloaded version do the same? ...

Why don't you disable third-party cookies if you dislike tracking cookies?

I only mentioned Adobe Reader because when I originally tried to find out why I had the problem, I saw a site mentioning Adobe being the problem, and that it needed reinstalling.
I just assumed it used some sort of Adobe application to run the scanner, but wanted to find out more before changing anything.

There's some sites (like this one) that I stay logged into, and I suppose blocking cookies would create the need to log in to such sites every time.

You would only have to block third-party cookies, not first-party. Thinkbroadband uses first-party cookies.

If you were to experience a problem with a site, which is highly unlikely, you could add it to your browsers white list.

Ah! I knew there was a way to do that, but never found out how because I didn't fully understand the different types of cookies! Thanks.
I actually thought I'd done it a while back, but found that whatever it was I did resulted in blocking everything, and I had to go looking for passwords etc
I've now enabled first party, blocked third party, and allowed session cookies.

Even with 3rd party cookies blocked, I still get tracking cookies.

Just as interest, I tried running this product & was surprised (i.e. very annoyed) to find it also loaded Google-Chrome! 
If I wanted Chrome, I would have installed it - I really do NOT trust any program that tries to FORCE itself onto my PC!

I didn't see anything mentioned about installing Chrome ..they should at least warn people before download.
I have Chrome installed anyway.

Those are all third-party cookies. In my case they were blocked because I have told Chrome to block third-party cookies.

Why don't you disable third-party cookies if you dislike tracking cookies?
Firstly, people like Google use Tracking Cookies - who has not implemented a Google Search?
Secondly, even with 3rd-Party Cookie disabled, I still find some of them getting through:-
e.g. I often find doubleclick.net cookies & I can definitely state that I've NEVER visited their Web-Site!

Those look like first-party cookies to me. I certainly wouldn't regard them as tracking cookies. What's the source site?

As I say, those are not the normal ones NAV finds. As pointed out doubleclick.net is normally 1 of them.

Yes, I saw the Google toolbar and opted out of it
I've used SAS for years now since Kaspersky recommended it to me.
Then I started using their online scanner just over two years ago, and it always worked well until the last time I tried.
Having it installed instead is fine though.
