Vehicle Tax Refund from GOV.UK??

I have just been texted, apparently from DVLA, to my mobile which said that:

"""Vehicle Tax Refund
We would like to notify you that you still have an outstanding vehicle tax refund of £48.84 from an overpayment, despite our previous letters regarding your refund we are yet to receive your claim.

Requests for refunds are time limited please use the link below to complete your refund request."""

But as far as I know that a) my Car-tax is NOT due to renewed until every April and I had never been contacted by DVLA for this so called "Refund" in writing since this April 2017. Why I'm being contacted now by TEXT and suggesting I should click a "Started Link" below their text?? How did so called DVLA got my mobile number

Apart from feeling suspecious that this "Text" to my mobile and its content advising to click a specific "Start" link,

Does anyone have any similar textes, apparently from DVLA, about it???

If it were from DVLA they would know, and quote, the relevant car registration number- you might have more than one car.

Without that it's a phishing attempt to a randomly selected mobile number. Bin it.

99.99999% that is a scam. DVLA would send it to your registered address for the vehicle not by text.

A few days ago I had the same type of email supposedly from Inland Revenue informing me that I was due a refund of over £480, requesting me to fill in the attached form, if I didn't I would be liable for a fine of £200... lol

Obviously a scan email, never ever had anything but letters from them !

I have a genuine refund coming because or a SORN. I did get an email not a text. What does the link point to?

The "Refund-Text" received alledgedly from DVLA in text, instead of a letter, has a LINK attached and asking me to CLICK it to kick start my process! However as some one has mentioned, there is NO my car's Registration Number mentioned in this Text what so ever. So I dare not try to click that LINK. Beside how to find out WHAT is this link pointing to ???

At the moment I am trying this "Text" as a SCAM and have decided to ignore and bin it later.

With the email program I use, Thunderbird, if I move the mouse over a link, I can see the address it points to at the bottom of the window. No need to actually click it.

Do not click the link.
The DVLA would not contact you on your mobile , they would always quote your reg number and contact you at your home address or at the address that you registered the vehicle from.
In the case of a tax refund they would just send you a check for the amount they owed you attached to a letter with the reg number on it etc.
99% sure that you have received a scam message.
The link might ask you to enter bank details or other info on the pretext that they were going to pay the refund into your bank , the DVLA or any government document would never do that.

In deed. I'm using Thunderbird as well. As I later on found out that Thunderbird would display WHAT my mouse is point to for ANY links it is resting on it! For security purposes, I don't intend to Publish my doggy LINK adress here as it may affect some people who may feel curious about this link!!!!
