Spam increase

Anyone else noticed over the last few weeks, an increase in email spam? My primary email account very rarely gets spam, maybe 1 email a month if that. Lately though im getting 1 or 2 a day. Its going to my spam folder automatically so not an issue, but seems something has triggered the increase.

My email address hasn't been compromised according to haveibeenpwned.com, and all the spam is coming from a .host domain. They are all of similar content too. Someone claiming to have a package to deliver to me and I need to click a link to fill in my contact details.

Anyone else having similar?

It's not just you. I've certainly seen an increase in the amount of spam email being rejected by my servers in the last few weeks.

Spam goes in cycles for various reasons. Sometimes the command and control servers running botnets get taken down, which leads to a significant reduction in volumes. When a widescale breach of user details from a major site is announced, you'll usually see an increase in phishing emails looking to exploit that.

Last week my two mail servers rejected about 4,300 spam emails using a variety of methods. Only four people have email accounts on my servers so that gives you an idea how big the problem is. I think three or four spam emails got through but I've identified how they did and have updated the filtering.

Content goes in phases too. Today it's pharmaceuticals. Last week it was a mix of spam for erectile dysfunction pills and adult themed subjects like "I Missed Hookup Call". In the past it's been cheap counterfeit watches (see first link below).

There have been quite a lot of fake invoices recently - allegedly from Sage, Xero or Quickbooks.

It's the scourge of the interweb thingy.

The proportion of spam in relation to the total number of emails sent seems to be falling, which is a good thing.

Spamming, along with misapostrophecation, should be a capital offence

Yes I have noticed the increase , but as long as they just end up in my spam folder there is not a problem.
But be aware that some might get into your inbox , so if unsure do NOT click on any links or open any files that might be in the email.
And do not send any personal info.

The spam mail is ridiculous anyway. Says i missed a deliver and to click a link to enter my details so they can deliver it again. Well if you tried to deliver it once, you would have my details

In my 20s, my spam was mostly 'Meet Eastern European women' or 'Loose women in your area', or words to that effect (I knew who the loose women were, and generally avoided them ). Not long after my 30th birthday, I started getting erectile / Viagra spam.

I was really irate about that.

There is the problem, if you clicked the link and gave them your details , that is all they wanted you to do.
There is no delivery to be missed.
Unless you have ordered the product , in that case the company would have sent you a legal delivery confirmation.?

Yes , but if anyone gives out there bank or other details then they have a real problem.
But like you state , some will , but that is why there will always be spam I guess.
