Windows Defender

[link to this post]

Anyone having trouble with Windows Defender keep turning itself off. Done an in place repair which should have repaired it. Doing an Eset and Bitdefender system scan to see if any nasties have disabled defender.

Well Bitdefender didn't find anything on a system scan and ESET is still running. Guess I will have to leave ESET overnight as it seems slow.

ESET didn't find any threats either. So have swapped to BitDefender free and will run for a while see how it copes.

Isn't it possible that your other antivirus programs are turning it off?

You're running too many programs - just stick with one.

No. I was running Windows Defender on its own, which fell over so I downloaded ESET online scanner to check for a Virus hadn't turned off WD but that was so slow. Note that is only an online scanner not the full package. So I turned to Bitdefender which did turn off WD and did a full scan - no nasties found. It seems I can do an offline scan with WD as well as run Bitdefender package. SO will run that a while see if it any better. WD is now updating.
