Sky Router issues should be fixed

[link to this post]

BBC has just issued an article on Sky routers flaws.

I'm sure the issue has been mentioned elsewhere at some point

Hope they have all been updated, if anyone has one in a cupboard they need to make sure it is updated before or immediately they connect it to the Internet or at the least the default password changed

Seems to have affected all Sky routers.

Are there that many people left who are daft enough to *not* change default passwords? blush

Probably the majority of people who aren't on this forum.
Out of every person (who isn't in an IT field) I know only one or two have changed their passwords.
I have campaigned for people to change passwords but the usual response "i'll do it tomorrow" comes into play, tomorrow might as well be after the systems are compromised.

Many Thanks,

I lived, many years ago, in an area with many garage door openers. It was not uncommon for several to open at a time as few ever changed the default DIP switch selection.

Almost without exception all ISP supplied routers are junk. There are some niche ISP's that do provide decent routers but they are very much the exception than the rule.

Rhynchelma

Years back whn we moved into the present house I connected up our wireless door bell and the Nursery next door came to the door every time it rang as it rang their bell as well. As we couldn't hear theirs it took some time to recognise the issue. (Ours never rang when theirs was actually used as it was out of range of their signal!).
