MAC keeps on being rejected by Sky, what to do??

[link to this post]

Since the 1st November Ive been trying to move onto Sky BB from Freedom to Surf. On the 7th November I received my ADSL router and logging details from Sky after giving them my MAC couple of days before. About a week later, I was given an activation date of 16/11/06. The day before my activation date, I received a letter from Sky saying my MAC was rejected by BT and I must ring Sky to reconfirm which I did straight away. I gave them the MAC again and was asked to ring back 2 days after to see if it was accepted. Again, it wasnt, after another 2 attempts within that week my MAC was rejected. I contacted Freedom to Surf again to request a new MAC, within 12 hours I was given another MAC. I contacted Sky and gave them my new MAC and was given a new activation date of 27/11/06. Once again today I had another letter about my MAC being rejected by BT. According to my rejection letters if my MAC starts with LLU then I need to cancel my current ISP and then contact Sky but both MAC's start with BBIP. Ive been with Freedom to Surf for nearly 2 years and always been on the old 2meg unlimited connection and never upgraded to their MAX service. So I dont understand why my MAC keeps on being rejected. Has anyone else had this problem with Sky BB and managed to sort it out?

Just for your information... We're in the process of migrating from f2s to Sky (one of the LLU packages). I received an email from f2s only a few hours after giving my MAC code to the Sky Broadband agent. The email indicated cease of service as the line was going to LLU.

Errm, I rang f2s around the end of October. I received the MAC code from them within minutes, actually whilst still on the phone to the f2s sales agent (they deal with MAC codes for some reason).

I gave the MAC code to Sky whilst signing up over the phone on the 18th November and got an automated email from f2s that very evening (maybe 6 hours after calling Sky). The email said:

We have been informed that telephone number: 0xxxxxxx is moving to an LLU
provider. Any ADSL services held with us on this line will cease due to this
change of provider.

Your ADSL Service will terminate on: 2006-12-04 (year-month-day)

What I find slightly strange however, Sky have quoted an activation date of 29th November.

If bull_dogger got an automated email from f2s, it would probably indicate that his MAC was accepted and punched through the system, causing f2s to inform that the migration is being processed - As your MAC is not even being accepted by BT for Sky to process, your current ISP will not know about you moving!

My cousin had the same problem with moving away from his old ISP (I don't know the ISP but wasn't f2s) and he tried many times. His final attempt worked and when I asked him what the problem was, he said that he was pronoucing a '0' as 'o'... I don't know the format of MAC keys (my brother sorted out all the migration stuff) and I dont know whether what my cousin said was true and whether it was the issue - but that is the only success story I've heard about resolving rejected MACs so far!
