Ex-Nildram WARNING - Billing

[link to this post]

Yesterday, I received an Invoice from Nildram for my account from 25/11 - 24/12 :-(
I was migrated on the 23/11 - luckily I cancelled the DD on the 23rd. :-)

Please watch out if you have recently migrated from Nildram.

I know Nildram have made some mistakes on billing after migration before, but if you left on the 23rd they will only have known about it on the 24th at the earliest so this one is not as bad as it sounds.

Also depending upon when you asked for your MAC you may actually still owe them money anyway for the 30 day notice period.

They were aware on the 23rd, as i had not been given a date by SKY and actually reported my loss of connection to Nildram, and when I found out that the migration had taken place I got straight back onto them to advise them that it was not a fault, and that the migration had taken place.

The other part of your comment doesn't apply here but may do to other people migrating so fair comment.

I must say that all the years I was with Nildram I had next to no problems and the few I did have were sorted out very quickly up until they were taken over by Pipex, then their service started to go downhill slowly.

Nildram himself being an ex-Cixen like myself started a really good service for us but like a lot of things that start out small and good, when they get too big and get taken over by the Big Guys they end up turning sour.

A lot of us got started on CIX in the old days, but you are right, it has been a long time now since Adrian started Nildram and a lot has changed.

If you don't get through on the phones to the accounts team I'd suggest dropping a PM to Becci on the boards here as she should be able to correct the billing for you promptly.

Regretably, even with your phone call they would still have had to wait till BT confirmed it to them, but if it isn't already being corrected I'm sure Becci will sort you out.

I had the same problem with PlusNet... Apparently once I was migrated, my account details were untouched and I received a bill for the month. Apparently BT are supposed to inform them when a migration takes place but in my case this didn't happen (or so they claim)...

After a lengthy 'investigation' which was coming onto the next billing month, I got tough with them to stop delaying it and refund the money and close my account - all sorted now but I have had friends in similar positions with other ISPs - Could be an entirely innocent mistake!

Unless it has changed recently it is not so much BT 'informing' the losing ISP it is more that they provide a means for the ISP to see who has left.

If the ISP does not check the report often enough then that can be how these problems arise.

The difficulty for the losing ISP is that they get no prior warning of the actual migration date, they can only see that an issued MAC has been used and then eventually they will see that the customer has left but only after it has actually happened.

I dare say that it may be possible for a migrated customer to be missed off the report but in general it is more likely that the losing ISP has had a billing run between the date that a customer migrated out and the day that they see that it has happened.
