After much pain, and nearly 8 weeks with no internet I have finally been properly connect to Sky Broadband.
First time around there was a 'duplicate order' which resulted in me being technically connected but not in the billing system, therefore no modem being sent out. They have done a cease and reprovide and now I'm connected
Anyway, I'm now connected to what should be the Max 16mb package, but the statistics suggest otherwise.
According to Sam Knows, I think (can't check now) it used to show that I'm 870 metres in a straight line from the exchange.
Line Attenuation 29db
Noise Margin 10.7db
Connectedion Speed 8096
Surely I have placed on the wrong package ? Last time I was connected, even I couldn't use Sky BB, I could see that I could synch at around 13Mb.
The current stats, the fact that last time I synched at 13mb, and the current connection speed (8096 sounds like too round a figure) suggest sky have put me on the Mid package ?
I'm wondering how easy it is for Sky to correct this ? I am away from home alot for work, but will home for xmas period, and I don't want to risk Sky messing up the line again and having no internet over xmas. If its anything more than a simple flick of the switch, I would rather wait until end of xmas, when I'll be away again and then request them to correct it.
Does anyone have any experience of switching from mid to max ? Also, can anyone please give an indication of kind of speeds I can expect with my stats.
Thanks
