But to have Sky Broadband (which is a 12 month contract) do you not have to subscribe to SkyTV for the same length of time?

And surely as an existing customer, you would not sign up without already by anticipating having the TV anyway?

That's just the way I look at it.

Not really, let's say you cancel 9 months into your sky max bb subscription and you've got no contract left on your TV. If there was separate subscriptions you'd have 3 months of BB to pay, 30. If however it was renewed you'd be liable for 30 + however much your TV is - more than 100 for most for 3 months...

Sky States 12 Month Contract Renewal

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

My Sky TV Digital Contract was running out in November 2006 and when I read the BB terms and conditions it stated that your Sky TV Contract will be renewed for a further 12 months upon receipt of the BB service. This was also followed up when I signed up to the service and Sky Customer Services reconfirmed that your TV service is renewed for a further 12 months minimum.

Sky needs to retain as many subscribers as possible. Most entertainment companies are following suit, by signing up as many people as possible to extra services e.g. such as Broadband, or fantastic offers on telephone services, etc. The more extras you sign up too, the more the company can ensure that they retain you & the 12 month clause ensures that they get their money's worth out of you.

Sky Broadband - Connect.

I was assuming that you didn't leave - what I meant was, by default, while ever you have a SkyBroadband connection, you are expected to have a SkyTV subscription.

Is that not correct - I have never really bothered as I have no intention of cancelling the TV package anyway, the kids would kill me (I did threaten that once, to get a Sky+ box with free installation, and it worked )
