Does Sky set a max stable rate after 10 days?

[link to this post]

Are Sky using a similar system to BT's BRASS profiles?

I sync around 15300 during the day with a SNR of around 7.5dB, but during the evening the connection stalls/grinds to a halt with a SNR of around 6.5dB. When I reboot in the evening I get a sync of around 49000 with a SNR of around 7.1dB.

This has happened 2 evenings in a row, now if I leave synced at 49000 will Sky set this as the Max stable rate or if I have to reboot during the day will it try to sync at 15300 again? Loadthed to call them as it took 10 days for ADSL2+ to be enabled!

Normally my router is on 24/7 so this should not be an issue expect for crashes or power failures.

Odd I thought if the SNR drops the router should automatically re-sync at a certain dB figure, and surely as that is an indication of quality it should not vary the stable SNR from line to line? Or are Sky trying to get a max stable rate like BT do?

I have seen the one your mean but I'm a Mac user so it's useless.

If I leave synced at the evening rate I should not have an issue.

It's odd that Sky manually have to reduce the max sync rate, a lot of hassle for them and end users, especially as if you ring first line support they will not have a clue what you are speaking about!

Good point don't know about Mac in theory if you reboot at the lowest snr figure in the evening all SHOULD be well forever and a day ?

Unless Sky supported Seamless Rate Adaptation (SRA) but then we wouldn't have this issue!

I assume the generic firmware from Netgears site does not fix this issue?

Whilst SRA works on UKonline (also easynet llu) connections, bulldog abandoned it after testing, apparently its very router firmware and DSLAM firmware dependant. Better connections without!

Seems a shame.
