On verge of cancelling

[link to this post]

Just got Sky Broadband on Friday (after migrating from PIPEX, that could have been a mistake).

Great for downloading but pings are terrible for me which means I can't play online gaming anymore (speeds I am getting are about 100ms on the servers I play on.

Most of Sky Tech department haven't got a clue what I am on about, how the hell can they call they call themselves a technical department.
I am on Sky Mid package (which is on interleaving looking at another post, I hadn't even heard of interleaving before last night).
They won't raise a tier 3 call to move me to Fast as Sky Broadband is only for Browsing the net and downloading.

If I ping jolt.co.uk (anyone else getting pings this bad as a matter of interest?)

I'm on an interleaved connection and this is what I get on Vista Ultimate:

Pinging jolt.co.uk [82.133.85.65] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=56

Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 41ms, Maximum = 42ms, Average = 41ms

What's your route like?

Tracing route to jolt.co.uk [82.133.85.65]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

9 42 ms 42 ms 42 ms secure.jolt.co.uk [82.133.85.65]

Trace complete.

EDIT: of course, Pipex now own Nildram, which runs Jolt, hence all the Pipex stuff in the tracert. If you depended on Jolt for your online gaming, then moving to Sky may well have had an adverse effect on your latency.

I am on Sky Mid package (I don't even know if that is on interleaving or not, how can you tell?) My pings and tracert are below:

As I am still in the 8 working day cancellation period (so I will be giving it a week), is there anyway of improving these pings, are they likely to get better and is it just a case of waiting for my connection to stabilise?
When I am playing on-line games, most sites I go on have a max ping of 100ms and then they disconnect you which means I get disconnected immediately.

Note I get the same sort of pings on any UK site like bbc.co.uk for example.
Below are my pings and tracert to jolt.co.uk. Does the tracert indicate anything?

Anyway, my pings this morning are (and they are consistent at any time of day)

sorry this is kinda off topic but

how do you actually ping a site

i've looked at my netgear settings and found the ping option but i need to enter an actual ip address not a http website

Open a command prompt and enter
ping
followed by a space and then the server/site you want to ping.

all it indicates is that your problems start as soon as you hit the easynet network at cr0.swrth.uk.easynet.net

Well that would be my local exchange then south wales roath exchange, I assume (swrth).
Does easynet come under Sky's control?

Where do I go from here apart from back to PIPEX where I had good gaming pings.
