Netgear Wireless Router + Sky Broadband ISP

[link to this post]

Can anyone help, I have been with Sky Broadband since it was launched last year I have the MID package I pay 5.00 a month for 8Mbps. How can I tell what Netgear Wireless Router I have I cannot find a Model Number anywhere, when I hover my mouse over the wireless network connection icon it says 54Mbps speed, excellent signal. The reason for my question is my next door neighbour has just joined up with Sky Broadband on the same package as me and because they have a PC that is not wireless enabled Sky sent out a Netgear Wireless Adaptor to them and it was a 108Mbps adaptor and when they hover their mouse over the wireless network icon they have a speed of 108Mbps showing . Have I been supplied the wrong speed router - can anyone help who's on the same package as me with Sky Broadband.

think about it.

you have an 8Mb connection to the internet.

does it matter whether you have a 54mbps or 108mbps connection to the router?

no.

oh right

well you need to logon to the router to do that.

you can use a speedtest online which will show you your throughput - but that is often different to the speed you are actually connected at.

the details on how to login to your router should either have come with it, or can be found by searching this forum.

to conduct a speedtest online, go to the homepage of this website and click "broadband speed test"
