Happy people have a lot to make up for on all these forums, not just Sky, so here's my tale of glee...

- Cancelled UKOnline 8MB LLU in early Feb
- UKO left my service online for just over a week at 2MB, then switched me off when the engineer switched off at the exchange (nice continuity attempt!)
- ordered Sky on 12th Feb.
- 6 days later discovered Sky order cancelled due to other broadband flag on my line
- HINT - wait 2 days after your BB gets switched off before reordering, BT takes that long to remove the flag.
- Reordered Sky on 17th Feb having confirmed that the flag was gone
- received Netgear router
- received go-live date (March 7th)
- went live on March 7th
- Oh, dear! Netgear router faulty...3-5 working days for new one to be despatched
- used hack on www.skyuser.com to extract "secret" username and password from my faulty router, and input them in my Linksys WAG354...WHOOSH

It's now March 14th (4 working days later, new router tomorrow?) and I am sincing at about 9MB on ADSL2+.

I've ordered a XTE-2005 ADSL faceplate and unwired lines 3 & 4 in all my internal cabling as recommended, which added 1-2MB to the spead, nice one

Just waiting to see if using the preferred router and the new faceplate get me within shooting distance of the magic 16MB.

Only downside to all this? March 7th as I went live, Sky announced acceptance of LLU MAC codes, so I could have gone without going without... [censored].

"because if you only download less then 40GB a month your giving Sky a free fiver!!! "

Judging from my first week online with SKY that's an unlikely scenario :-)

Good to see other Happy Customers making themselves known

"From what I know there's no real financial difference as in both cases your taking up the same slot in the rack in the server room . Also for someone to upgrade you to the max would just take a button press however it'd probably cost you more in phone calls to get it done than it would for the techy to press the keyboard. "

So why not supply 16 Meg service in the first place? ..... there must be a reason for this and it's got to boil down to money in one way or another.

Yup Im happy with Sky been with them 2 months now and its been great.

As to BT taking two day to remove flag you will find thats UKO that caused the issue not BT as they recover lines 99% of the time within 24 hours - of order been placed to I would bet UKO left it till the last day to ask for a cease back to PSTN.

well I'm not happy!

just got in from work and tested it. works perfectly on ethernet. haven't set it up for wireless yet.

down: 3456k (over three times faster than i was getting on Orange!)
up: 416k

i'm not even using the sky supplied power adaptor or cables. i checked the voltage and current settings on the router - same as for my linksys one so i just plugged that adaptor into the back - saved me pulling out the tv unit from the wall!

why am I not happy? well it was supposed to have been done yesterday! okay, i've been at work all day so haven't needed the connection, but still!

is it worth installing the sky supplied software?

Another happy customer here - Been with Sky BB since early Sept 2006 and not a problem since...

From the point of ordering to now, customer support great (only used once), speeds great (and got better after sorting out internal wiring - now synced at 8190 on Mid package), router and wireless network flawless... Router been steady for a month now and still going, and would have been longer if it wasn't for the power cut!

GREAT PRICE, GREAT SERVICE - many wil agree I'm not wrong here!

Fred.
