If you're going to Sky MAX, then your Belkin will need to support ADSL2+ to get the most out of your line. (Depending on your attenuation and snr margin stats).
The "Netgear utillity" webpage allows you to read out the username and password that are programmed into the Sky router. The software in the Sky router is heavily customised and hides the username/password information.
You need to connect once with the Sky router, then your account is live, and you can then try another router. You may find the Sky router gives you a faster or more stable connection.
Its unlikely the condition will be enforced, but you may be asked to connect it if you need helpdesk support.
