Since moving over to Sky... !?! :(-

[link to this post]

Hello All,

I have been with SKY Broadband for 2 weeks and our speed is abysmal! It just gets worse & worse no matter what time of the day. Initially for the first few days it was okayish. Its now so slow that you cant even watch a BBC news clip, and thats if your lucky enough for the page to load!

I could bare it no longer... so called SKY via the 0870 number (long delay). Went through some basic questions and was told that another department will have to contact me in 5 days Im waiting with some glimmer of hope

Can anyone advise on any recommendations in the mean time or do I have to bare with it until they contact me. My previous connection was with EFH Broadband (1M connection) and was always good, rarely had any trouble.

you should look into your sky router and see what speed your router is connected to the exchange. If it is say 3M then you can get 'upto' 3M. if it is say 0.5M you can get upto 0.5. Look at the WAN settings/status.

this sounds as though there is something wrong with how the sky router is talking to the other 'router' in the exchange.

default username=admin, password=sky.

Hello All,

Sky left a msg stating that they saw corruption on the line..? - it looks as though they have downgraded the speed to 8MB's as it was definitely registering @ 16MB's before the change although I didn't get a chance to copy these details.

In terms of speed improvement web pages are better, but run emule and it dies even if your not downloading anything.

Here are my router stats:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 12.0 db 9.0 db
Noise Margin 12.4 db 9.0 db
