Just left nildram, great ISP, very happy for the last 4 years.
The lure of ADSL2+ and 10 a month was too much.....
--RANT--
however.....got a date of the 8th May for activation(gave them the MAC code)
on the 1st of May , couldnt connect to nildram anymore.."CHAP AUTH Failure", intial thoughts were that sky have provisioned the line, also noticed the upload jump to 768 instead of 448. still nildram dont offer 768. Rang Sky, they stated that lines NEVER get provisioned before the date on the letter. Had to take them at their word.. received the sky router the next day, plugged it in and "hey presto" it worked first time....proving that the line had been provisioned. It then took up to the 8th May to get BTw to tell sky that the line was provisioned. before sky would entertain me speaking to tier3. Supposedly unheard of..If I didnt receive the router I only hesitate to think what the last week would of been like , playing telephone tennis between ISP's, trying to get connected, nearly resorted to DIAL-UP :-(
Thats were the fun begins.....spoke to tier3 today and was told that my line will only support up to a maxium of 2mbps.......argggghhhhhh, I've already connected for the past 2 years at 6.5mbps.....with a SNR of 6.5 and an attenuation of 32db. He wouldnt budge about ADSL2+.
however the various ADSL2+ checkers tell me I can get 11-14mbps based on these figures.
The "Tier3" technical support guy didnt know what ADSL2+ was and had to get his manager to educate him....FFS. Absolutely NO IDEA .
--END RANT--
can't grumble still getting 6.5 for a tenner a month.
I'll probably cry myself to sleep tonight
