SKY BROADBAND ISSUES

[link to this post]

I had no problems with Sky for over a month, but now my line keeps dropping every 40 mins or so then reconnects. My line stats are:-

SNR = 9.0
ATTN = 55

I have noticed my SNR keeps going to 0 and then it dies. I am currently getting speeds of Down = 3136, up = 416.

Anyone offer any advice? as Sky are not doing anything about it.

A lot of problems with dropped connections are down to internal extension wiring. I'm on a very long line (63dB) and I use a filtered faceplate thus isolating all extension wiring from the adsl side of things. But before you go down this route make sure that there isn't a problem with your line, i.e. make sure that there isn't a lot of background noise / scratchy / crackling on voice calls. If there are noises on the line get BT to investigate first. If all is ok then maybe try a filtered faceplate.

They do there normal fault finding and say that we can cap your line at 2meg and see what happens. I used to be with Ukonline and had no problems with having a 3meg line.

My wiring should be good as the house I am in is brand new.

So you're quite a distance away from the exchange then.

"My wiring should be good as the house I am in is brand new."

whilst this probably means you won't have a huge amount of old crappy internal wiring I've been lead to believe that some of the master sockets being installed in new places aren't all that.

you are plugged into the master socket right?
