How to get ADSL2+??? Any simple ways?

[link to this post]

On Sky Broadband Max. I've just spent ages on the phone to CS, technical help (sounded like an Indian call center) and provisioning. None of them have heard of ADSL2+ and wouldn't even raise a ticket to change my profile. I normally get above 7Mb/s, my noise margin is pretty constant at about 13dB and my line attenuation is 38dB. According to http://212.23.23.177/ADSL/default.aspx I should be able to get a line speed of 11695Kb/s.

Has anyone managed to negotiate the Sky labyrinth and come out with ADSL2+ without going mad?

From what I've seen vrp you have to get to Tier 3 before this will even be attempted - there are people that have done it, so patience and persistence would be great attributes here

Good luck - Blue

Note: You could also look at Sky User for similar issues

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll take a look at skyuser. It's really frustrating talking to Sky tier 1 technical support. They haven't heard of ADSL2+ so say they can't open a ticket. When I tell them tier 3 knows all about this sort of thing they say that they can't put me through to tier 3 without opening a valid ticket for tier 3 to act on. Which of course they say they're unable to do because it's something they don't know about... It's like a ridiculous catch-22 situation. When I mentioned to one of the supervisors that other people had talked to tier 3 and had their profiles changed she flat out said that that was untrue and that it was impossible for them to have done that!!! I'll look at that skyuser site and keep persisting.

Congrats.

Did you get a UK based call centre by any chance? And what exactly did you say to get him to pass the problem up to tier 3 or to get it sorted? Did they sort it the next day?

Call centre I got was based in Northern Ireland, I had to argue the point that I was put on the wrong profile and I should have ADSL2+ (tip: explain problem 1st, then go thru the motions of the support script) after going thru the motions of the script I had to hang up (to plug phone into test socket of the NTE5) then recalled em, at that point I had it escalated to tier 3 after arguing that my exchange was LLUed (support kept saying it wasn't which I knew was untrue) after much discussion, i firmly requested a ticket and to be passed onto tier 3, after much waiting and apologising from the support bod, I asked for tier 3 to phone me instead when they had time, next morning when I checked the router it said 10Mb instead of 8 (figures on it were all wrong so i recyled the power on it (pulled power and plugged it back in)) and lo and behold.. a strong stable 16Mb

Am I happy? I'm chuffed to bits
