I joined Sky Broadband MAX in February 2007. Initially I was singing and dancing with my 14Mbps sync rate and 1.2MB/s downloads. However, since March I've noticed that the evenings are now really slow. Even when my router is rebooted and reconnects at 13Mbps with a noise margin of 7.1dB, my download speeds drop to around 200kB/s.
I've contacted Sky asking about possible bottlenecks in my area and they're yet to get back to me - although they have said they are investigating. What I find puzzling is, why was I able to download a ridiculously high speeds in the evenings when I joined back in February. Surely there aren't that many new customers that have caused this bottleneck?
It's frustrating that I can download at close to 1.2MB/s in the mornings and then drop to a fifth of the speed in the evening.
Is anyone else experiencing such dramatic differences? Oh, and it's not the places that I'm trying to download from that are saturated, as I see a drop across the board - even to my work computer that sits on the Cambridge Ring (1Gbps synchronous).
Easynet that operate the network don't have any useful status info or anything similar, so I'm stuck wondering whether this will be the situation forever..
