Now that sky have officially announced that their email service is moving to google, can I ask if anyone knows if I will be able to use Outlook as I normally do?
I am waiting for an activation date and don't fancy the idea of ahaving to go to a web site to access my email. I would rather do as I do now, with outlook.

I've not see that announcement but you may be better off biting the bullet and getting an independent email - maybe a googlemail! At least then, when you change ISP your email will remain the same - I did this several years ago and wished I had done it sooner.

It is Google email that they are moving to!
I already own my own domain so have email directed to my IP email address.

Google mail does allow you to use outlook to send and receive mail, There are a few more settings than a 'normal' ISP mail settings but it works fine.

I was thinking along the lines of sky bastardising the google s/w to disallow this.

That I do not know, I have not even received any notification from them that they have changed, But I will certainly try it when/if I do.

A little confused here - when you say 'moving to googlemail' I assumed you meant Sky would be using googlemail's services, not their emails addresses!
Help me out here please

Yes, sky will be moving to googlemail's services. You keep your [email protected] though.

Interesting, but still think an independent email would be better for the long term.
Thanks for the info - Blue
