Couple of questions

[link to this post]

I am considering (again) Sky Max purely on the price point.

I do use my connection a lot hence going for Max rather than Mid, but I have rubbish line stats at the moment (57db, only syncing at 1856 which has dropped by about 1000 over the past few months!!!!). I'd like faster speeds and I think LLU will give me slightly faster as I should get sync speed rather than DSLMax downgraded speed (correct me if I'm wrong).

Sky dont do a fixed IP address, so how long do you keep the IP address for? Only worried incase my router drops for a moment would I re-sync and keep the same IP or will my VPN session crash and I would have to start everything again because my IP has changed? If it's not too frequent then that's OK!

And any ideas how long it takes to migrate from one ISP to another as I can't afford much downtime?

FINALLY managed to get ADSL on 4th November 2003!!!!!!! HURRAR!!!!!!!!

Sky LLU don't use a line profile as such, so you are likely to see a better throughput than with ordinary ADSL. Sky won't put you on ADSL2+ with that line attenuation.

I've been with Sky a couple of weeks, and have had LOTS of IP addresses. When the router re-syncs or reconnects, you will as likely as not get a new IP address.

My downtime when I migrated from Zen was about 10 minutes.

No, figured I'd be put on ADSL, but if it's LLU it'll hopefully be a better speed than I currently get.

Hmmm, IP address could be an issue though with my VPN. So everytime you re-sync you get a new IP.....hmmmm. Dont re-sync that often thankfully so it may be a non-issue.

Thinking......
