Using my own router

Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked before.

I want to use my D-Link router as its better than the Netgear supplied by Sky.

I set it up and it connects ok but I get no throughput, can't bring any web pages up.

Any help would be great!

Have you extracted the user name and password from the Netgear?

Sorry to sound dim but where do I get the username/pass from. I have entered into the router settings but can't see it anywhere.

and do as instructed, and then use these details in the old router. remember that Sky use PPPoA no PPPoE.

The Speedtouch is much easier to tweak SNR margins with programs like DMT. I think the default SNR on Sky is 7dB with the Netgear router - if your line noise variation is less than this, you can knock it down to 5 or 6 dB. I think the default for the Speedtouch is 6dB, which is probably why you saw an increase in line sync. And you get that straight away - none of this "line profile" stuff on Mid and Max !

The Sky router can easily be tweaked until a firmware update that stops that is released. Hopefully the next Sky firmware will update the modem firmware and improve performance.

From what we have heard, its on the cards.

The new FW will block all known apps to find username and password etc, but will not stop you from reverting to other FW at the moment.
