Thinking of migrating to Sky from Orange...

[link to this post]

Hi there, I was just wondering who here uses Sky broadband and how they would rate the service?

I ask as my parents have been on Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange broadband for about three years now (after dial-up before that) and, barring the odd minor hitch, they've been reliable enough. But it still only runs at 512k (I could have upgraded it a while ago but I didn't really want to pay 20 just for some numpty to flick a switch), and as they have the complete Sky TV package I figured it would make sense for them to migrate over to the broadband package for free.

But just thought I would check here first in case they are an absolute no-no! We live in quite a central area of Manchester so we can definitely get it, and I'm hoping that having run the service for nigh-on one year now Sky should have it running smoothly. But if anyone knows otherwise, or knows of any other good value-for-money packages out there feel free to let me know!

Cheers

p.s. Also, is it quite easy to set up? I set up the Wanadoo broadband so I'm fairly confident I could set this up, although I have never set up wireless before...

Wireless is an option, not mandatory.

The supplied router can be connected via ethernet or wirelessly (if your parents have a wireless network interface for their computer).

Very simple to set up - basically plug it in & you're connected.
