My 15.3Mbps adsl doesn't even beat 2Mbps - EVER!!!

[link to this post]

After numerous attempts at getting some help from my ISP, SKY, I really need some input from you guys. My wireless router has been sync-ed at 15323kbps for over a month since we had our connection installed however after doing load and loads of speed tests the fastest speed I can ever get is 2.9Mbps over the month.

I'm connected to the router via a brand new ethernet cable. The connection has been steady and has always been sync-ed at 15323kbps. Can anyone help here - Sky are insisting they havent placed a cap on my connection and it should be running at full speed!

If you are using windows XP, download DRTCP http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp select your ethernet adaptor, enable window scaling and then increase rwin (TCP Receive Window) substantially.

Firstly you're using a rubbish speed tester! I done a test and only got 1.3 mbps and always get 13~14 mbps from other sites.

Try the one here at thinkbroadband or the one at speedtest.net. Then report back.

Have you tried running TCP Optimizer? Custom settings, slide the slider up to 15Mb, apply changes & re-boot.

As above, TCP Optimizer made a vast difference to my data throughput.

If you are syncd at that, you should get pretty decent speeds - are you SNR stats OK as if they were marginal then you would get a lot of errors.
