Anyone else losing service?

[link to this post]

Hi All,

Since my folks have had ADSL, whichever the provider, they've always had a damn good connection being so close to the exchange. I've noticed over the past week huge packet loss even when pinging the gateway which causes them a complete loss of service, the router appears to remain connected through this period. Even after a reboot (router) I'm still seeing the same behaviour, is anyone else seeing anything similar over the past couple of weeks?

TIA

Not for me currently 400+ hours since the last router reboot (mine through fiddling). Get them to call Sky and report the problem.

Again, nearly 300 hours of error free uptime - would be longer but I had to turn the mains supply off to do some work.

Have you used one of the utilities to tweak the router? I use this one and find it is great for getting a stable connection using the SNR.

The netgears do seem to have issues if the SNR falls below 6 ish.

That would be a handy utility if it worked with the new v2 dg934

Hi all and thanks for the replies!

yoda, I'll have a look at the router utility, thanks for that. Previously there have been no problems with their service and have also had something like 500 hours router uptime. I'm trying to remote desktop to a machine I have on their connection at the minute and it's up and down like a yo yo (router is still connected at exchange side though).

The router stats at the minute are as follows..

System Up Time 383:52:42
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 2265 2114 0 2473 2224 00:07:19
LAN 10M/100M 67838 0 0 6 0 383:52:40
WLAN 11M/54M 5302022 3073609 0 1736 323 286:36:07

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 22.0 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 12.3 db 14.0 db

Bizarrely enough, by the looks of it, this last disconnect was a real disconnect, the previous WAN uptime was something like 80 hours.
