Folks,

I had this problem about 2 weeks ago when I rebooted my router and couldn't get authenticated. I call Sky support tofor the first time and found it is not a nice experience.

First agent hung up on me, second advised of network outage and the problem was the RAS servers so after rebooting I could not log back in. No ETA on reapir just as soon as. Hey, what can you do they are working on it!

As I have virgin media cabled network installed I moved to it and was happy working away when i thought to my self I would check Sky Broadbands service status page. Oh what a mistake.

I called the help desk and got wait times (to be expected with the outtage) and found no status page exists and referred to another department for updates, it was the same department. They proceeded to diagnose my problem with router light status, dispite me advising of the outtage. After a few minutes with diagnostics complete the agent decided it was the RAS servers being down that caused the problems - congrats eh!.

The long and short of it is that 7 phone calls later I got a nice lady who advised the RAS servers are down and took the time to deal with my questions about service status pages/phone number by calling other department.s

So good luck all

Hi,

Outage started at 08:50 and ended at 15:20

Was a problem affecting Manchester Super PoP and Majority of London PoP's

Not sure what root cause is, but SKY man I spoke to on support was very helpful.

When our exchange area had an outage a month or so ago I phoned CS to check and instead of just taking the phone number and checking for an outage the lady went through quite a convoluted series of checks - only after about five minutes did she check the number and gave the response that there was an outage affecting the exchange and surrounding area.

My take? - It's now policy to keep you hanging on the phone for as long as possible to generate more income!
