Sky Broadband Problems

[link to this post]

Hey all

Been with Sky Broadband for over a year now but this last week was awful, having to reboot the router every few hours, as web pages not loading and just in general very slow.

The broadband had been working at around 8Mbps but on Saturday it connected under 3Mbps, so rang up and told Sky not bothered at the speed connection but I want a working service, so the customer experience team (2nd level I believe), did some changes to my line but same problems, and advised my broadband line was fine, and to try a different PC into the test socket. Ok....

Anyway I use to work in broadband repair for BT so I had done most of the checks anyway, did try another PC in the test socket - different filters etc.

One thing that did occur a few weeks back is that I cancelled my BT line and moved line rental to Sky as well, not sure if this could have caused a problem. Anyway was getting no where, checking spyware etc on phone, eventually got told to try in 2 hours if problem persists call back. Internet been poor since and they say they don't know what problem is, you would think maybe they would report a fault still? Anyway cancelled the broadband to the free package, maybe it will work better on standard 2Mbps connection, parents can use that.

I have now got cable installed today and working a treat. I would recommend Sky Broadband still as great for value but their support doesn't appear to be that great. (Spoke to numerous support agents but not mentioned every call)
