Bad speeds for stats, do I have to contact SKY?

[link to this post]

I have these stats currently:

Down Up
SNR (dB): 11.9 20.0
Attn(dB): 53.0 28.9
Pwr(dBm): 0.0 9.7
Max(Kbps): 4104 516
Rate (Kbps): 3068 412

These are down from when I first got Sky BB a couple of years ago. Do I need to contact Sky to get them to do something to make it sync faster?

As an experiment I got a Belkin G+ MIMO ADSL router (which is where those stats are from) and it got the same as the Sky DG834.

If anyone is interested in the F5D9630 from Belkin, I can recommend it from what I've seen so far. It has made my laptop downstairs usable on WiFi where before it was not at all. The MIMO G+ seems to work really well at extending the range of bog standard 802.11g devices so far, although I've not tried it yet with a MIMO G+ receiver (there was a USB dongle in the box for that).

Anyway, I digress. Is there some way to force it to try harder, faster speeds from my end or do I need to contact SKY, and would that be by email, phone, or an RFC1149 compliant message? And is there a recommendation on how to phrase such a request?

Thanks!

I should add, this connection is on ADSL 2+, and the upstream used to be 786Kbps or something. I miss that and would rather have the upstream back than the ultimate in downstream speeds.

Mode: ADSL2+
Channel: Fast
Trellis: U:ON /D:ON
Line Status: No Defect
Training Status: Showtime

What's holding your speeds down is the high noise margin. Check your house phone wiring out before contacting Sky - remove unwanted extensions, remove ring wires, fit a filtered faceplate, etc. There's loads of posts on the subject.

This is where I am now. I can't really check the extension wiring as it's builder installed and I don't know where the run is. I did fit an iplate this morning.

SNR (dB): 14.4 22.0
Attn(dB): 53.5 29.0
Pwr(dBm): 0.0 10.4
Max(Kbps): 4708 516
Rate (Kbps): 3068 412

You can check the extension wiring by removing it temporarily. Sky's usual SNR margin is 7dB - yours is 14.4dB - that's what's holding back your speeds.

Maybe he's been DLM'd, being rolled out to everyone from October apparently.
