Will Sky Negotiate On Price?

[link to this post]

I am currently with BT and have Vision too. Currently paying 22.99 for BB and 14 for the Vision sub and very happy with both services. I have been thinking about buying the freesat PVR to get some HD content too.

My contract with BT is up in January and have been thinking about whether to renew. I have heard elslewhere that Sky may give you the Connect service for 10. This could mean I could get Sky HD with 2 mixes for the same price I am paying now. If true then I can get a lot more for the same price. Of course, BT will probably offer me discounts to stay anyway.

Can anyone confirm if this could be the case or is it 17 take it or leave it?

Hi Norrie,

If you subscribe to Sky TV then you can get Sky broadband. If your exchange is enabled for Sky LLU then you should be able to get one of the 3 LLU packages: Base, Mid or Max.

Most people are very happy with these. Max is up to 16Mbps synch and unlimited downloads for 10 per month.

if your exchange is not enabled, or the LLU capacity is full, you may be offered Sky Connect, which is rebranded BT and many people are unhappy with the product. It is, I think, 17 per month. If Sky think that they may be able to switch you to LLU within, say, 6 months they may put you on Connect until LLU is available and only charge you the LLU price, hence 10 for Connect.

If you go for Sky HD with 2 mixes you will pay 28 per month with broadband on top (Sky HD is 10 more than Sky non-HD) Ordinary Sky TV + 2 mixes + Max BB would be 28 per month.

Regards,

Felix
