How good is Sky Broadband Mid

[link to this post]

As an existing Sky Tv customer I have been eyeing up their latest deal for Broadband Mid up to 8meg and Sky Talk free evenings and weekends for a total of 15 a month. In the current climate it pays to save where one can and my current broadband provider with up to 8meg and 4gb allowance costs me 17 a month

I enjoy download speeds of between 3-4meg with no traffic shaping and I live about 1 mile from my exchange

Could I expect Sky to do the same with their mid service

Hi Bob.

We were in pretty much the same situation as you and opted for the Mid/Sky Talk option. All I can say is - we have never looked back. We haven't a clue how good Customer Services is, that in itself is a recommendation!
We are further from our exchange than you are to yours, we used to get 2-2.5 meg, we now get 3776 consistently, higher during the day if I care enough to reboot the router. (I don't really). Sky's download limit for Mid is 10x more generous than your current 4GB, personally i don't think you'll be disappointed. And you'll be about 12-13 a month better off!

Our supplied router (Netgear V2) holds the connection well, even when the noise margin is 0 or in negative values.

The downside is that you'll be tied into a 12 month contract but I've had no reason to feel disadvantaged by that.

Good luck,

t t

Its outstanding. CS was very good when I informed Sky that:

1. I was a gamer and I needed my pings reduced.

2. When I moved my BT line to Sky Talk and lost some speed.

Worth 5 a month any day.
