Is this normal speed for Sky Broadband Max pack?

Hi,

I am on Sky Broadband Max (up to 16mb) package and just wanted to check if I am getting best out of it.

I did a speed test on this website a few times and here what it said both times:

I am 2.72 kilometers from exchange.

The fastest download speed that I have ever seen in torrents or just normal download was 180 kB/s. I think thats my max at the moment.

Is this normal? just seems wrong when I hear other people getting more than twice that!
Any settings that I can look through, maybe I have something setup wrong.

Edit2: I have just taken off the face plate and plugged into the test socket directly and my speed increased, from the speed test:

Big improvement, but why cant I have this with face plate on because this way my house phones do not work :-/

If you can post your line stats someone will no-doubt let you know what you can expect to be getting as far as speeds etc...

what kind of router are you using?

I have updated my original post with more details from my router.

your throughput speed (download speed) is good for your synch speed (connection speed).

the connection speed is poor because of the high noise margin, it is possible sky's dlm system has been over conservative on your line and set the target noise margin too high.

your line attenuation will perhaps allow you about 4000-6000kbit I reckon if they set the target noise margin down to 6db.

With an att of 51.5db you are not 2.72, maybe as the crow flys but not line length.

Even with that in mind you should be syncing and achieving much higher.

Your "generous" margins mean that your line is picking up noise, and more so when you have the extensions connected. Search the forums for "disconnecting the ring wire" on your phone wiring.
