Everyday allowance too low - upgrade or move away?

[link to this post]

I've had Sky Everyday for over 2 years, but our broadband usage has recently increased and I'm now finding the 10Gb allowance a bit restrictive. My options are:-

1/ Upgrade to Sky Unlimited - does that envoke another 12 month contract?
2/ Move away to O2 Broadband (Standard). O2 LLU is available on my exchange and I do use an O2 pay&go mobile.

I've been quite happy with Sky, apart from being crippled by DLM a while ago.
My line will only support around 5-6Mbps.

Anyone care to advise me?

If you are considering a move to O2, then these cost comparisons might prove useful.

O2 Pro - Unlimited, cheap, good support

David,
Thanks for those cost comparisons.
I will have a look through them later.

I moved away from Sky when I got my first warning email for exceeding the Everyday limit. That along with the price doubling from £5 to £10 was the final straw for me.

I moved to o2 - my work mobile is with o2 so the charge is £7,50 per month. I got 2 months free start up, and signed up through Quidco for a £75 cash-back.

So nett effect is 12 months free broadband, and I've escaped from the Murdoch empire smile

Now all i have to do is to persuade the wife to give up Sky TV !

I should have added that the move went smoothly - excellent customer service from o2, and I sync at slightly higher speeds with o2 - my poor quality aluminium line is the limiting factor

Update:-

I have since contacted O2 to see if my exchange has spare capacity - it does.
...so MAC has been requested from Sky.

Now I need to look into using Quidco to get some cashback on the switch to O2.

You'll not regret it.

I did persuade my wife to cancel Sky TV - but when she called them to cancel, they offered her 6 months @ half price which she accepted.

MAC received from Sky (they gave it over the phone).
Broadband order with O2 going through now...

Thanks for all those who advised me to switch.

I would dump the tv too but that would render our sky+ pretty useless...
