Just wondering what Sky is like at the moment? Seen an offer I can't refuse and very tempted in switching. Wouldn't be taking their phone line and package as I want to keep my phone line with BT for obvious reasons
With Enta right now, on ADSL2+, capped to G.DMT due to line problems (consistently rising SNR). stats:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6528 kbps 992 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.0 db 18.5 db
Noise Margin 8.7 db 11.0 db
So how is Sky?
Forgot to mention I'm on the Boston Exchange ( EMBOSTO) So choice in ISP is limited. Hence my liking to Sky.

Should be ok where you are, there have been problems in some areas, check the service status on their page to see areas affected

Been on the Service since 23rd December, haven't seen any slow downs at all.
Very impressed to be fair.

I have been on Sky for just under a week for me its faster than o2 who i was with before.
Connection Speed Down 18248 kbps Up 934 kbps
Line Attenuation down 21.5db up 12.2db
Noise Margin Down 6.9db up 8.0db
I did call on Friday and asked to be put on the gaming profile the guy said he couldnt do that all he could do was reduce the delay.
Just wondering if they would be any reason why i couldnt go on the gaming profile?

Do a tracert to somewhere like bbc.co.uk. It sounds like you are on the old Easynet network which has no gaming profile as such, the tracert will confirm one way or the other

Ahh that's okay then, I don't live in any of those areas. Have MAC code to hand now so all set.
How would i go about doing the tracert?
Start > Run > type 'CMD' without the '' > press enter
type 'tracert bbc.co.uk' without the '' and press enter

Yeah so no gaming profile as such but they can tweak the connection to improve ping times e.t.c

Never knew Sky would be so helpful. I assumed their tech support would basically be the sales dept with a script.

Appart from the once was UKOnline, Is there any reseller who provides connections using Easynets network? or is it just Sky?
There are other resellers but they are all aimed at the same market / price range as easynet connect (and supported by easynet) so possibly a bit overkill?
I was just thinking that's all. But if Sky is the best of them all I'll go with them

Do you know if there's much of a FUP on the Unlimited package? I can download anywhere from 100GB-175GB in a month so wondered if that;d be a problem for them too.

It is about the only ISP that states that it is truly unlimited....no FUP.
Not seen a post that contradicts that claim...............there have been issues recently in certain areas but it appears to be lack of capacity that Sky say they are addressing.

There was a recent post on ispreview by someone claiming to be subjected to traffic shaped on sky LLU. However, Sky refute it, and the poster claims to be downloading around 1 Terabyte a month!
